Who is Robin, the Glass Artist at the Military Art Glass Studio?


I retired as a Master Chief (CTRCM) after 28 years (1977-2005) of U.S. Navy service. The US Navy was good to me, and as advertised in the 70's I saw the world, met all sorts of people and have memories that will last a life time. I loved every minute. I am proud to say I served with the Canadian Forces for almost 7 of those years, and maintain friendships to this day.

This website started with one piece of artwork at the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (GO 103 BLUE!) and I have not looked back since. Thank you to all my shipmates and friends around the world for making this such a wonderful second adventure.

Painting has always been a passion during liberty hours; unknown except to those who were closest to me. Typically it was oil and acrylic on canvas with an occasional wall mural when asked. Over the years my military mural work was requested at Corry Station Pensacola FL, FT Devens MA, Gander NFLD, Masset BC. I have 3 years of architectural drafting and have juried/placed exceptionally well in art shows in England and Canada.

Medieval Art is my forte with a lot of detail and line work. A typical 24 x 36 canvas could have 300-500 people, animals, fauna lined in (no kidding). Why, the glass painting? About 6 months prior to hanging up my hat, I started to paint USN Master Chief and Senior Chief Anchors on glass for shipmates and students in attendance at the Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, RI.

One of my first commercial pieces for presentation was to MCPON (Ret) Scott as a presentation/speaker gift. I remember being real nervous that he would not like it, but all fears were eliminated when Mrs. Scott told me personally that it was one of the few gifts he received that she made him take home and not leave in his office. What better testimonial is that? As I look back and review my list of recipients, I am awed. Military Art Glass is all over the world!

Original artwork at the Senior Enlisted Academy is much different than what I paint today. The frames are now heavy-duty gold metal by Nielson (for its 100lb suspension), the glass is thicker and the artwork is sandwiched under another piece of glass. This is not stained leaded glass. The difference with my art, is that it can be very detailed - which you cannot achieve with traditional stained glass, such as personalization, all the line work in warfare devices and unit insignia. There are no machines involved with my art. I do not "bake" or "etch" my paintings.

The paint is a chemical based application, one color at a time. Each piece is unique; no two are exactly the same. Once an order is placed I review it for content and if have any questions, immediately contact you. Each piece takes about 5 days from start to finish - it's the drying time and layering which is most time consuming. You may suspend my artwork on a wall or in a window. Your choice. Either way, it is beautiful.

I take my art very seriously and am a perfectionist. If for ANY reason, you are not satisfied with your artwork, let me know. I have yet to have a piece returned due to artwork. When you place an order, if I have it on hand I ship it the next business day (non-personalized). I prefer UPS and will ship to APO/FPO using Parcel Post Express.

Yes, I really do live in a log cabin on 3 acres in the woods in a little New England town. This is a joint venture with my husband John, there are no other 'people'. Each piece is custom by us. I would like to thank my family, friends and the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy shipmates for giving me the courage to go public.

It's my next journey and I love it.
